php-mail software package provides Class that provides multiple interfaces for sending emails, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install php-mail
php-mail is installed in your system.
Make ensure the php-mail package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep php-mail *
You will get with php-mail package name, version, architecture and description in a table
